Dear Mr. Shelton,
Thank you so much for your comic strip "Ben". I truly enjoy my mornings with your creation. I just loved the series that depicted Ben's interaction with the IQ test!!! He truly reflects the life of today's seniors. We senior citizens have so few comics aimed at our section of the population. All "family" strips are drawn featuring middle aged couples with children and the problems they encounter. We do not share that interest. Our lives revolve around our spouse and our grandchildren and on very rare occasions, our children.
Therefore, may I please request more strips focused on Ben and his wife and once in a while the grandchildren. I rarely find the strips depicting his daughter's family inter-actions all that interesting. I went through those scenarios 40 years ago. And for 40 years have read the same topics over and over and over again. I am so disappointed when I log on and find your strip following that path. It is so well worn.
Thank you again for all the wonderful moments I have enjoyed with "Ben". May you and Ben continue for as long as I live and can read. |

Dear Ben and Family,
I so enjoyed your recent comic strip, which portrayed “Liv” as “Monet”. What a work of art, comparable to “Monet”, if I say so myself! I am such a fan of Ben and his extraordinary family. Sometimes I wish that I had a family like Ben. He is so lucky! Keep up the great work! |

| I've been GREATLY
enjoying your recent series about Ben and Olive fighting over
control of the thermostat, as it reminds me both of my wife
and me and my mom and dad. I didn't think to cut it out of the
paper, and hoped to download them to mail them to my mom (she
doesn't get a weekday paper). However, I couldn't find them
on your web-site. Are they not posted yet? Please let me know
where I can find them. Thanks a lot. BTW - Ben has quickly become
one of my "top" comics. It's all way too familiar! |

| BEN is delightful and very true to life. Our newspaper doesn't carry it, so it's nice having it here to start my day off with a smile. If I could publish my own paper with comics, this one and "For Better or For Worse' would be the first (and perhaps ONLY) ones. They offer nice, clean, nonviolent, charming, lovable, true to life subjects. Very welcome in this world of ours. Thank you for sharing your work. |

| My
husband and I have just recently retired a (last February) and
we LOVE your column. It seems that you have been following us
around, because everything we do, think, or care about, you
write a column about. We even have two grandchildren (ages 2
and 4) and loved it when you became grandparents for the second
time in the strip - Thank you, thank you, thank you....Keep
up the good work. |

| I absolutely love
this comic! It is wonderful! Our local and very small paper
does not have any comics at all, but if it did I sure would
want BEN to be the one they would run.I e-mailed Edmonton's
two papers in hopes of getting them to run BEN . Good luck and
congratulations on this very funny ,human comic strip! |

Just
wanted to say how much we enjoy your comic strip. My wife and
I just had our second child, a boy, on October 2nd and our first
is also a 3 year old boy. It was fun reading your comic strip
and seeing the similarities. My wife was pregnant pretty much
the same time your cartoon character was and gave birth very
close to the time that your cartoon character did. Oddly enough
I work with computers, working as a Sysadmin doing networking
and working on large UNIX servers (and I always have a Notebook
close at hand). We were just ejoying your comic from the December
30th edition of the Vancouver Sun, it was the one that spoke
about creating a "extra special, extra memorable" New Years
Eve moment. Having two kids of our own, we could certainly relate.
Thanks for the wonderful comic strips, they have helped us to
laugh at ourselves. We look forward to reading many more.

| My
husband and I have very much enjoyed your comic strip over the
last several months- we learned we were expecting our baby at
the same time as the strip characters- went through many of
the same experiences- the morning sickness, etc. We would both
go straight to the comics to see what was happening with the
Ben family- fun to see things move along with us! Thanks! P.S.
we had a boy also, good and healthy, now 6 weeks old. |

Dear Mr. Shelton
I was recently introduced to your comic strip by a very dear
friend. "So I see Harold (my husband) is in the funnies!"
she chortled over the phone. I asked in semi-bewilderment, "Funnies?"
"You know, comic strips" Next, I was expecting a quip
like, "Yaah, Homer Simpson (or even Charly Brown) is sporting
a mustache!" Though I was sure the punch line would be
all the more belittling. Mary (as most of my friends) never
quite understood my infatuation with (much) older, balder men,
Harold being a 54 to my 28. I was pleasantly surprised two weeks
later to receive clippings of "Ben" through the mail.
Even Harold has to grin at seeing himself portrayed as the retired,
grandfatherly type...
I have since become an avid follower of "Ben" and
greatly look forward to letters from my Canadian friend. I especially
enjoyed the Miss Frumpley affair, but I believe Ben bears immense
sex appeal for the opposite end of the spectrum also! Recently
I and Harold vacationed at a nudist colony (it would be entertaining
to see how Ben would handle such a scenario - Nudge-Nudge Wink-Wink
). I’ve attached one of his less steamy pics to show you the
similarity. As a note of further interest Harold's new pet name
is BEN.

Since I arrived
in Canada last August, I am really enjoyed reading BEN (sometimes
the only reason to get out of my bed). I think it is one of
the best comics I have ever read. I am only 24 (so not the age
of Ben and Olivia), but I love it! Now that I found out about
your homepage, I can return to Germany without the concern that
I will never see Ben again :-) One thing I would like to know:
is there already a book? Where can I get it?
Yours, Annika |

Mr.
Shelton, First of all we are sure that you receive hundreds
of e-mails from fans, well here is another 2 fans to add to
your list. We really enjoy reading your comic strip everyday.
We look forward to reading it, cause it puts a smile on our
faces everyday. We were both wondering if you plan on having
published the complete collection of your strip in the future
or is it already in the works? And if so please let us know,
we would probably be one of the first ones in line to purchase
it.
Keep up the good work, sincerely Debbie and Harold |
