Well, the switch that was supposed to be seamless was in fact, not. Even as of this writing, I am not sure when my ISP will come through for me.
The problem started Monday when a reader noticed broken image links on the rest of the site. I realized (looking at the URL) that although the homepage was fine, the rest of the site was still using the test site URL. That’s why there were broken image links.
I e-mailed my ISP to let them know but the next day I saw the change they did was even worse! BOTH the test site and the live site were back to the old format, which I can’t access since I don’t have my desktop with me. The whole point of the switch to a WordPress site was so I could update it from anywhere as long as I had access to a computer.
To further complicate things, I am halfway around the world on a different time zone, 12 hours difference. 9 am here is 9 pm EST in North America. So any communication has a 12 hour wait for a result. Also, I have been at a beach resort with just my brother’s iPhone which is a real pain to e-mail from. Now I am at my sister’s, using her laptop, and have been exchanging frustrating e-mails with my ISP who doesn’t seem to understand my needs.
And now it’s the weekend! Probably no movement till Monday. All I can say is I am sorry for the inconvenience and don’t give up on me yet!
In the meantime I will continue to blog about my trip here, not knowing when it will be visible to the public.
